FREE PATTERN: 4th of July braid headband _ M21

Materials:

- Crochet thread size 5, 100% cotton in red, blue and white.
- Crochet hooks, sizes 2.25 mm (B/1) and 6 mm (J/10).

Used stitches:

– chain

– double crochet

PATTERN

Foundation chain: With color blue chain 100.
STEP 1: Chain 1, sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook, chain 2 (count as a double crochet). Work 1 double crochet in each chain till get to the end (you should have a total of 100 double crochet). Chain 6. Make a slip stitch in the first chain of the foundation chain. PICTURE 1

Finish off and hide the tails
Do the same with RED and WHITE yarn. Once you have the 3 strips put one over the other in this order: red on the bottom, white on the middle and blue on top PICTURE 2

Now insert the 6.00 mm hook into the hole through all of the 3 pieces, take the 3 strands of yarn and make a chain PICTURE 3 continue making chains until get the length you want your stripe to be (hide the tail inside the chain).

Follow these instructions to make the braid:
STEP 1: Place the strips in this order: red on the left, white on the center, blue on the right. PICTURE 4

STEP 2: Cross the blue stripe under the white stripe. PICTURE 5

STEP 3: Cross the red stripe under the blue stripe. PICTURE 6

STEP 4: Cross the white stripe under the red stripe. PICTURE 7

STEP 5: Cross the blue stripe under the white stripe. PICTURE 8

STEP 6: Cross the red stripe under the blue stripe. PICTURE 9

STEP 7: Cross the white stripe under the red stripe. PICTURE 10

STEP 8: the blue stripe under the white stripe. PICTURE 11

STEP 9: Cross the red stripe under the blue stripe. PICTURE 12

STEP 10: Repeat Step: 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in that order.
STEP 11: Cross the red stripe under the blue stripe. PICTURE 13

STEP 12: Cross the white stripe under the red stripe and place it on top of the blue stripe. Now place the red stripe on top of the white stripe. PICTURE 14

STEP 10: Now insert the 6.00 mm hook into the hole through all of the 3 pieces, take the 3 strands of yarn and make a chain PICTURES 15 & 3 (hide the tail inside the chain).
